A university in Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, plans to expel a female student in view of an extramarital affair involving a well-known former Ukrainian professional Counter-Strike player last December, citing severe negative impact according to the university's punishment regulations on students' discipline violations.
According to a statement released by Dalian Polytechnic University last Tuesday, the inappropriate behavior by the student, surnamed Li, on December 16, 2024, caused a severe negative impact.
The university plans to expel the student with expulsion according to the Provisions on the Management of Students in Regular Institutions of Higher Education issued by the Ministry of Education, and its own disciplinary regulations.
According to the statement, the university attempted to deliver the expulsion notice to Li between April 15 and 24, 2025 through various methods including direct delivery, postal mail, and retention delivery. In order to fully protect the rights of all parties, the university now announces the plan in the public notice.
The notice will be considered delivered 60 days after its publication. If Li has any objections, she must present her statement or defense in written or oral form before September 7, the statement said.
According to the university's disciplinary regulations, students engaged in improper relationships with foreigners that undermine national dignity and the university's reputation may face a demerit or more severe disciplinary action, depending on the circumstances.
In December 2024, during the lead-up to the Grand Final of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, former Ukrainian professional player Danylo Teslenko, also known as "Zeus," who is married with a child, exposed his affair with 21-year-old Li, and shared their intimate videos and photos in a fan group, leading to widespread circulation, according to media reports.
