On the morning of September 4, Sun Zhiyang, Mayor of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, met with the delegation led by H.E. Mr. Scott Robert Dewar, the Australian Ambassador to China.
Mayor Sun extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He stated that Guangzhou is an international business and trade center, a comprehensive transportation hub, with growing momentum for innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as a rich historical and cultural heritage. The city has maintained a positive and cooperative relationship with Australia. He expressed the hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to further deepen collaboration in areas such as advanced manufacturing and low-carbon transformation, as well as enhance exchanges in science, education, culture, and tourism. He also welcomed more outstanding Australian companies to invest in Guangzhou and share development opportunities with the city.
Ambassador Scott Robert Dewar said that Guangzhou is a city with a long history and vibrant energy. Many areas of cooperation between Australia and China are closely linked to Guangzhou. He expressed the hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the city in trade, investment, green development, and medical technology, in order to achieve win-win cooperation and bring more benefits to both peoples.
Consul General of Australia in Guangzhou, Dr. Timothy Kendall, also attended the meeting.
