The two-day "Guangdong Goods Go Global: Zhongshan Products in Malaysia" event concluded successfully in Kuala Lumpur on April 26.
Chuah Poh Khiang, First Vice President of the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, told South that it is highly worthwhile for Malaysians to visit Zhongshan to explore cooperation opportunities.

Chuah Poh Khiang receives an interview with South in Kuala Lumpur on April 25, 2026.
"We estimate that representatives from over 60 Chinese community associations participated in this event, alongside delegates from various Southeast Asian representative offices—including those from Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam," Chuah noted.
Many products from Zhongshan are renowned globally. In particular, home appliances and high-tech products manufactured in Zhongshan are currently on the rise.
He then cited New Century Electrical Manufacturing (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. as a prime example. The Zhongshan-based firm has established a foothold in Malaysia and is now expanding its reach across Southeast Asia.
Notably, Chuah highlighted the convenience of traveling to Zhongshan for Malaysians. "We can simply fly to Shenzhen and then take the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, reaching downtown Zhongshan within 40 minutes," he said.
"Malaysia was one of the very first nations to support the Belt and Road Initiative. As a fourth-generation Malaysian of Chinese descent, specifically from the Chaoshan region of Guangdong, I share a common language and cultural heritage with the people of Zhongshan," he added.
In Chuah's view, this linguistic and cultural affinity ensures that cooperation between the two countries proceeds smoothly and without hindrance. As a result, many enterprises choose to establish their regional hubs right here in Malaysia.
