Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Guangdong Gauze) is a traditional silk fabric unique to Guangdong. It is made from grey mulberry silk and dyed with Dioscorea cirrhosa juice. Afterwards, it is coated with river mud and sun-dried via a traditional process that cannot be fully mechanized.
June is the peak season for Xiangyunsha sun-drying. At a Sericulture and Xiangyunsha Demonstration Park in Yangchun, Yangjiang City, colorful silk fabrics shimmer across the lawns as workers carry out sun-drying operations. The Xiangyunsha industry remains vibrant, with products sold across China and overseas markets.
