Guangdong's Zhaoqing is celebrating the dragon boat season.
On June 2, the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Workers' Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament was held in Zhaoqing. More than a dozen dragon boat teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao gathered at Xinghu Lake to race dragon boats amidst the green mountains and waters.
On June 6, the second China Zhaoqing Traditional Dragon Boat Competition set sail at the Jinli Longzhou Bridge in Jinli Town, Gaoyao District. Seventy-seven teams from various villages gathered to compete in the game. This boasts the largest number of participating teams, making it the biggest event of its kind.
Jinli Town in Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing, is famous for dragon boat racing. For hundreds of years, the making and racing of dragon boats have become the town's traditional activities, which have been passed down from generation to generation. So far, the Jinli Dragon Boat race has been included in the provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection projects list.
