Enjoy "Reclining Buddha Holding the Sun" phenomenon in Zhaoqing

As the autumn equinox approaches on September 23, the "Reclining Buddha Holding the Sun," a seasonal phenomenon at Xinghu National Wetland Park in Xinghu Scenic Area, Zhaoqing, has entered its viewing season.

Around the spring and autumn equinoxes each year, the setting sun appears to rest between the "lips" of a Buddha-shaped mountain on Guanfo Island (观佛岛), creating a scene of golden light, shimmering water and mountain silhouettes.

The viewing season runs from September 9 to September 23, with special offers and viewing tips available for visitors.

Viewing location: In front of Guanfo Tower, Xinghu National Wetland Park (星湖国家湿地公园观佛楼前)

As the sun gradually moves southward toward the autumn equinox, the ideal viewing position changes each day. Visitors are advised to move about 2 meters northward each day to stay aligned with the Buddha's mouth.

Best viewing dates: September 15 to September 17.

The sun will appear near the upper lip on September 15, around the middle of the mouth on September 16, and near the lower lip on September 17.

Special offers: Adults entering through the Xinghu National Wetland Park gate after 4 p.m. can enjoy a half-price ticket for 35 yuan per person. Existing discounts for seniors, students and other eligible groups remain unchanged.

Members of photography associations across Guangdong can enter Xinghu National Wetland Park free of charge with a valid membership certificate.
