In the autumn of 1951, PLA troops set up tents on the barren banks of the Lhasa River and established the region's first military farm. A "pioneer field" reclaimed in 1952 still survives on the site. In 2024, the community opened Xizang's first community-level family history museum, built around this farming legacy.
