A love-themed expressway rest area in Xinyi county of Maoming, Guangdong province, opened on Monday, helping inject new vitality into the development of local agriculture, transportation, culture, tourism, and commerce.
After its renovation in 2025, the area along the expressway connecting Yunfu and Maoming, Guangdong, features a parking lot for 125 cars and 28 trucks, and 28 charging stations.
On its opening day, the rest area celebrated its romantic launch with a diverse ceremony that included a ribbon-cutting and a collective wedding.

The area, themed around love and incorporating unique features of local agriculture, is designed as a multi-functional space that combines rest services, romantic experiences, agricultural exhibitions, and cultural tourism promotion.
In the northern section, a love bird-shaped multi functional, with a height of 13.14 meters, transforms origami cranes into carriers of emotion and art, using an intelligent light and shadow system to create a romantic atmosphere that changes from day to night.

Inside, there is a panoramic viewing platform that offers distant views of layered mountains and bustling traffic, as well as close-up views of romantic flower fields, making it a popular spot for couples and families.
It can be flexibly transformed into a wedding ceremony hall or a bridal photography base as needed, and it is equipped with a mobile dining bar and comfortable seating.

The hall will host art exhibitions and themed cultural events, further creating a truly stoppable and memorable emotional landmark in Guangdong's expressway network, according to Guangdong Transportation Group.
Unique projects such as aerial sightseeing and themed matchmaking events will also be organized in the rest area, helping activate local agricultural and tourism resources.
