Making payments in China is now easier for U.S. travelers as they can now use the PayPal app to pay at merchants accepting Weixin Pay across the Chinese mainland.
U.S. travelers can now use PayPal to pay at merchants accepting Weixin Pay across the Chinese mainland.
Without the need to set up a Weixin Pay account, PayPal users can pay in these stores using their PayPal balance. The service does not charge fees to consumers or merchants. Transaction limit is determined by that of individual PayPal accounts.
Payments can be made in two ways: pay by presenting a dynamic payment code (Show to Pay), or by scanning a merchant's Weixin Pay QR code (Scan to Pay).
To use Show to Pay, simply open the QR code scanner in PayPal, tap on the "Show to Pay" tab, enter the payment amount to generate a payment code, and show the code to the merchant for scanning to complete payment.
Using Scan to Pay is even easier — open the QR code scanner to scan the merchant's QR code, enter and confirm the payment amount, then click "Pay" to compete payment.
