Vietnam's Tan Son Nhat Airport to increase flight frequency during holiday peak

Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City will increase flight frequency during the upcoming holiday peak, Vietnam Television reported Wednesday.

The number of flights will rise from 44 to 46 per hour between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. from April 25 to May 5.

The period coincides with peak travel demand for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday from April 25 to April 27, as well as the Reunification Day and International Workers' Day holiday period from April 30 to May 3.

According to the city's Department of Construction, total passenger throughput at the city's two airports, Tan Son Nhat and Con Dao, is expected to average 133,200 passengers per day during the peak period, up 9 percent year on year, with around 806 flights daily.

Tan Son Nhat Airport is projected to handle about 130,000 passengers per day, an increase of 8 percent, along with 760 flights, up 5 percent.
