Guangzhou planning two inter-city railway lines to reach Baiyun Airport and Huadu District

Guangzhou is currently planning two new inter-city railway lines according to notices by the Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission. The lines are said to make for a fully integrated network within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The first line stretches 41.1 km from Fangcun to Baiyun International Airport, all the way through Liwan District, Yuexiu District, Baiyun District, Airport Economic Zone, and Huadu District. Eight D-series trains are going to roar at 160 km/h, halting at 10 underground stations along the line.

And the second line — 39.6 km in length, is expected to connect Guangzhou East Railway Station and Huadu District. Trains will speed underground through Tianhe District, Baiyun District, Airport Economic Zone, to Huachengjie railway station, Huadu District.

In a few years, the two lines may well link up with other inter-city lines such as the Guangzhou-Qingyuan inter-city rail, so the investment promises a more interconnected GBA.
