Shaoguan Danxia Airport will start operation on November 27, according to a press conference held by Shaoguan authorities on November 23. The inaugural flight will be operated by China Southern Airlines, from Shaoguan Danxia Airport to Beijing Daxing Airport. Tickets for the inaugural flight are expected to be sold at a discount up to 70% off.

What's more, the city will offer preferential treatment for passengers coming to Shaoguan via Danxia Airport. In one-year operation of the airport, all arriving passengers can enjoy a 50% discount at all A-level tourist attractions and hotels above designated size in Shaoguan within 7 days by presenting their boarding pass.
Danxia Airport plans to open three routes at the beginning: Shaoguan - Beijing, Shanghai - Shaoguan - Nanning, and Hangzhou - Shaoguan - Kunming. In future, the airport will open more fight routes to link major cities across the country including routes between Xi'an - Shaoguan - Sanya, Chongqing - Shaoguan - Zhanjiang, Chengdu - Shaoguan - Fuzhou, Shenyang - Shaoguan - Haikou, Qingdao - Shaoguan - Jieyang.
To better serve passengers, Shaoguan has newly opened 4 airport shuttle lines and 2 bus transport lines, connecting major public transportation stations including the Shaoguan Station of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, the Shaoguan East Station of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, and the Shaoguan Bus Passenger Transport East Station.
The opening of Danxia Airport will shorten the time and travel distance between Shaoguan and important cities inside and outside the province. And it is expected to have a closer connection with the Greater Bay Area, Northern Guangdong and other Chinese mainland cities after the airport opens more routes in the future.
Shaoguan Danxia Airport is the ninth civil airport in Guangdong Province. Located in Guitou Town, Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, northwest of Shaoguan City, the airport is 30 kilometers from Shaoguan downtown, 60 kilometers from the 5 A-level tourist attraction, Danxia Mountain, and it covers an area of more than 3,300 acres.
With a total investment of 1.667 billion yuan, the airport is estimated to handle an annual passenger throughput of 2 million and cargo throughput of 4,000 tons.
