Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

As we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, Guangdong is lighting up with festive joy through its Mid-Autumn Carnival. From ancient times, it has been customary for the Chinese to reunite with family members and enjoy a sweet mooncake while observing the beautiful moon. The celebration also includes experiencing traditional customs such as Chasing Moon with Lanterns, Riddles and Friendship, Fire Dance for Fortune, and Floating Wishes.

Riddles and Friendship

People gather under lanterns to solve playful riddles, adding both wit and joy to the festival.

Tea by Moonlight

Under the moon, loved ones share mooncakes and tea, cherishing conversation and the joy of reunion.

Floating Wishes

Lit lotus lanterns are set afloat on the water, carrying hopes and wishes to distant places.

Fire Dance for Fortune

Brick towers blaze into the sky, their sparks carrying wishes for a prosperous, safe, and flourishing year.

Chasing Moon with Lanterns
