China's GDP reached 69.57 trillion yuan in the first half of 2026, up 4.7 percent year on year and within the government's annual growth target range of 4.5 to 5 percent, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 15.
China's economy expanded 4.3 percent year on year in the second quarter, following growth of 5 percent in the first quarter.
The NBS said the economy remained stable and resilient in the first half despite a complex external environment and lingering domestic challenges, with innovation providing fresh impetus for growth.
