"We were essentially putting tariffs on a product that we barely had in the country," said Donovan Ralph Martin, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Scrum News, speaking on September 4 during a media group visit to BYD's headquarters in Shenzhen's Pingshan District. He slammed Canada's previous 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs as "a terrible idea" by the previous administration "following suit at the request of the US." Now with the tariffs lifted, he predicts "a lot of Canadians will drive BYD vehicles and other Chinese brands—it's just a matter of time."
