In Shawei Village, located in Maoming Binhai New Area, towering chemical facilities rise above the landscape, and transport tankers shuttle back and forth. This once-remote village has become a thriving hub of the petrochemical industry. It is now home to the largest private industrial project ever introduced since Maoming's establishment as a city—the Donghua Energy (Maoming) Alkane Resource Utilization Project (referred to as the "Donghua Energy Maoming Project").
Currently, Maoming is constructing a 101-square-kilometer zero-carbon industrial park in the Binhai New Zone. The park aims to develop a high-end, green, and intelligent industrial cluster.
Maoming's green transformation in the petrochemical sector is also accelerating. Last year, Maoming Petrochemical launched a refining transformation and ethylene upgrading project with a total investment exceeding 30 billion yuan. Additionally, hydrogen generated during production by companies like Donghua Energy could support Maoming's future development of a hydrogen energy industry.
