The three-day APEC Economies China Studies Scholars Forum kicked off on June 12 in Guangzhou to pool academic insight on APEC economies' development.
Prior to his address at the forum, Mark Beeson, Visiting Professor at University of Technology Sydney told South that given the protectionism led by the Trump administration in the US currently, this could be a greater opportunity for China to demonstrate that alternative approaches are possible to uphold multilateralism and to set a good example for the rest of the world.
He expected that there would be potential for cooperation across a broad range of areas between Australia and China, especially on trade and foreign investment.
