PNG Foreign Minister hails Guangdong delegation's cultural showcase at Butuka Academy

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea (PNG) Justin Tkatchenko praised the Guangdong delegation for its cultural events held at Butuka Academy in Papua New Guinea on July 31, highlighting the province's innovation and achievements across multiple sectors.

Named "2026 Charming China (Guangdong): Lingnan Culture Travels to the South Pacific", the event offers a vibrant showcase of traditional Lingnan culture and cutting-edge technology.

It coincided with both the 2026 APEC "China Year" and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and PNG, underscoring a shared commitment to deepening people-to-people connections.

"The event showcases trade, culture and art and all the different products from Guangdong," Tkatchenko said. "It's a testimony to Guangdong and its innovation, the innovation to excel at the highest level and also to show the world what can be achieved in many different areas."

The Minister also expressed gratitude for the delegation's visit to PNG. "Thank you for bringing Guangdong culture here to Butuka Academy and to Papua New Guinea, and for showing your culture, your materials and your exhibition of what you produce," he said.
