Food delivered by drone? Shenzhen's futuristic service wows Malaysian influencer

Imagine ordering food in a park and having it delivered straight to you from the sky. In Shenzhen, this is no longer science fiction.

In this episode, Nick from South takes Malaysian influencer Jordan Yeoh, who has over 10 million followers, to experience Shenzhen's drone delivery service firsthand.

The process is surprisingly simple. Customers can scan a QR code to place an order at designated locations, and a drone then carries the food directly to a nearby delivery point. No delivery rider needs to make the trip on the ground.

After watching his meal arrive by drone, Jordan was clearly impressed. "I find Shenzhen a very tech place," he said. Having initially expected something similar to a robot delivering food on the ground, he was surprised to see his order arriving from above. "This is really a mind-blowing thing. I think this is futuristic," he added.

But for Jordan, the technology is more than just a novelty. He also sees its practical potential beyond food delivery, including delivering parcels and shopping orders. He was particularly pleased that his meal arrived in good condition, and expressed hope that the service could eventually reach more countries. "This is something that I hope will be brought to not just my country, but all around the world."

From food orders to parcels, drone delivery offers a glimpse into how emerging technologies are changing everyday life in Shenzhen, where futuristic innovations are increasingly becoming part of the urban experience.
