When people think about China's annual Two Sessions, the country's most important political meetings, policies and government discussions usually come to mind.
But beyond the formal meetings, the event also provides a stage for China's provinces to showcase their own stories, industries and innovations.
On March 6, the Guangdong Delegation's Open Day in Beijing attracted large numbers of journalists from China and around the world. The event offered a glimpse into one of China's most dynamic provinces, highlighting its technology, manufacturing strength and openness.
Among the eye-catching exhibits was a futuristic guitar with no strings. Instead of traditional strings, the instrument is played by touching built-in sensors, allowing users to create music through digital technology.
Nearby, a pair of lightweight AI glasses demonstrated real-time translation in up to 144 languages, while also displaying teleprompter text during speeches or conversations.
Another highlight was a coffee-making robot capable of preparing a cup of coffee in seconds, reflecting how automation and smart technology are increasingly entering everyday life.
Guangdong, located in southern China, is one of the country's largest technology and manufacturing hubs. Innovations like these illustrate how the province continues to push forward in fields such as artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing and consumer technology.
The event also drew interest from international media.
Tania, a journalist from Bulgaria, said she was impressed by both the atmosphere and the ideas being discussed. "I like everything here. I'm so happy that I came today," she said, adding that she has been closely following China's social policies. "I'm really impressed by how the politicians here put people first."
Helena, a journalist from the Czech Republic, said she came to learn more about Guangdong's latest innovations. "I'm here to learn about the new innovations in Guangdong. I'm really curious about what is happening now and what will happen in the future."
Chen Lin, president of Canada's Solo Magazine, said what stood out most to him was Guangdong's openness. "What impressed me most is how open Guangdong is, including what we see today — these high-tech products," he said. According to Chen, Guangdong also represents the advancement of China's "new quality productive forces," particularly in the development of artificial intelligence. "These achievements are worth sharing with the world," he added.
For many visitors, the Guangdong Delegation's Open Day offers only a small glimpse of the province. To truly understand it, you have to come and discover Guangdong for yourself, a place full of innovation, technology and opportunity.
