Summer break is now underway across Guangdong, with most primary and secondary schools starting their vacation in mid-July. Universities have also announced their summer schedules.
Universities
Most universities will begin their summer vacation between July 11 and July 27, with the new semester set to start in late August or early September.
● Sun Yat-sen University: July 13–Sept. 6
● South China University of Technology: July 20–Aug. 30
● South China Normal University: July 20–Sept. 6
● Jinan University: July 27–Sept. 6 (classes resume Sept. 7)
● Shenzhen University: July 18–Aug. 27
● Southern University of Science and Technology: June 30–Sept. 5
● Guangdong University of Technology: July 11–Aug. 27
● Guangdong University of Finance & Economics: from July 4
● Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine: July 16–Sept. 2
● Guangzhou Vocational and Technical University: July 18–Aug. 28
● Shenzhen University of Information Technology: July 20–Aug. 27
Primary and secondary schools
According to the 2025–2026 academic calendars released by cities across Guangdong (subject to local updates):
● Most cities start summer vacation for both compulsory education and high school students on July 11.
● July 12 is the most common start date in Shantou (compulsory education only), Yangjiang, Jiangmen and Zhuhai.
● Huizhou starts earliest, with compulsory education schools beginning their vacation on July 4 and high schools on July 11.
● In Shantou, high schools begin their summer vacation later, on July 19.
