Canadian delegation visits Foshan to explore China's green energy development

"I really encourage a lot of people to come and visit to learn what the future of a clean city is," said Abdelkarim Awwad, Publisher of Diplomat & International Canada Magazine, after seeing various environmentally friendly products in Foshan.

On May 30, a Canadian delegation, of which Awwad was a member, visited this city in Guangdong Province to experience the development of Chinese green energy in person, and explore potential collaboration between China and Canada.

The delegation visited Shunde Environment Protection Technology Park of Infore Environment Technology Group Co., Ltd. (Infore Enviro), which aims to become a respected and trusted industry leader in the field of intelligent environmental equipment and services powered by environmental robotics.

Awwad was very impressed with AI technology and unmanned machines. He saw lots of demonstrations of Infore Enviro's latest equipment, including the smart cleaning machines and the robots. "We could have cleaner cities with such excellent tools here, working 24 hours in silence," he added.

"Organized, clean, and forward-thinking"—these three words summed up Bigus Bangoura's visit to Infore Enviro. Bangoura is a Canadian basketball player and social media content creator.

Asked by the South reporter about possible collaboration between the company and Canada, he responded with "absolutely".

Bangoura detailed that Canada has many urban and suburban areas in need of regular maintenance. The products from Infore Enviro would be ideal for keeping downtown Toronto and its outskirts clean and well-maintained.

"There are high-density residential areas, big houses, and sidewalks, which could be cleaned, and streets could be cleaned as well," he added.

As the host city of the 10th China (Foshan) International Hydrogen Energy & Fuel Cell Technology and Products Exhibition this October, Foshan is home to numerous enterprises and research centers focused on this cutting-edge energy sector.

The delegation also paid a visit to Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, which specializes in the development and industrialization of key materials and core technologies of hydrogen energy and hydrogen-ammonia fusion.

The delegation members toured the exhibition hall, viewed hydrogen-powered vehicles such as heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles, and visited the perovskite photovoltaic charging station. Notably, they took the hydrogen-powered bus and rode hydrogen-powered bicycles, which was a highlight of the tour.

Kon Madut, Professor of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa, noted that it was amazing and very informative. It was the first time for him to learn so much about hydrogen technology.

Madut suggested that Canada could buy hydrogen-powered buses and bicycles.

He learned about the basic technology behind the bus, especially swapping the cylinders. "That's very efficient. Now you have probably more than 4 minutes. You just swap the cylinders, and then the bus is on the road again," Madut said.

He rode the hydrogen-powered bicycle for the first time and found it fast, light, and affordable. In his view, it is ideal for inner-city travel across Canada.

Having seen many forward-looking technologies, Awwad said it is rare to find such a fully integrated AI and tech system in facilities anywhere else in the world.

"I'm very delighted that there are people at companies like this working hard for our cleaning, our hygiene, and our future for generations to come."
