The Second Shanwei International Jewelry Exhibition is being held in Shanwei, Guangdong, from November 1 to 3. Buyers from the 140th China Import and Export Fair visited the city for business matchmaking, while international bloggers explored its jewelry industry.

Spread across three venues in Meilong, Ketang and Changsha Bay, the exhibition has 3,600 booths and drew more than 3,000 companies. It showcases a wide range of products, including colored gemstones, gold and silver jewelry, pearls and rough stones.
British blogger Sophie was impressed by the city's creativity and designs. "Shanwei is really beautiful and creative. They have a lot of amazing jewelry designs," she said, encouraging jewelry lovers to visit.
The event also features livestream sales, hands-on jewelry-making and business matchmaking sessions.
Although Shanwei does not produce gemstones, it has become a major hub for the industry. A popular saying holds that one in every two colored gemstones worldwide comes from Shanwei. Hundreds of types of rough stones are brought to the city, where they are cut, carved and set into jewelry for markets in more than 180 countries and regions.

In 2025, the city's jewelry industry recorded an annual output value of more than 35 billion yuan. It processed around 50,000 tonnes of colored gemstones and made more than 70 percent of the world's crystal bead bracelets.
Shanwei is speeding up the digital and green transformation of its jewelry industry. It is promoting cleaner production and smarter manufacturing methods such as 3D printing. An intelligent industrial park brings research, design, training, appraisal and trade under one roof, while livestreaming platforms link product selection, warehousing, logistics and brand building. These efforts are helping local jewelry reach consumers worldwide and supporting a shift toward high-end manufacturing and customized production.

International buyers also see opportunities in overseas markets. "We are trying to be a bridge between Shanwei and the Dubai market," said Pakistani buyer Mudassir Habib.
The 2026 Shanwei Jewelry Industry Conference was held alongside the exhibition on November 1. The conference unveiled the Gemports Transaction Index for an international gemstone trade network and promoted its establishment in Shanwei. It also launched the regional brand, Shanwei Jewelry.
