Futuristic "Bird's Nest" in Shunde near completion, set to host 15th National Games

The Shunde Desheng Sports Center, a highly anticipated landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with a total investment of 3 billion yuan, is nearing completion. Dubbed the "Bird's Nest of Shunde" by locals, the centre is preparing to host events for the 15th National Games in 2025.

Located in Daliang, Shunde District, the sports centre covers approximately 230,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 210,000 square meters. It features a 20,000-seat multi-purpose stadium, a 12,000-seat indoor arena, and a 2,000-seat swimming centre, along with around 1,200 parking spaces. The stadium and indoor arena will serve as key venues for football and basketball matches during the upcoming 15th National Games.

The indoor arena can accommodate up to 12,000 spectators, and the final construction phase is now underway, with deep cleaning and equipment testing in progress.

In addition to the competition venues, the Desheng Sports Center also includes a training facility and a swimming center, each with a capacity of 2,000 people. These facilities will be open to the public in the future, providing a prime destination for fitness and recreational activities.
