Huaqiangbei's AI Boom: Top eight products reveal China's fastest-growing tech market

Huaqiangbei, in the heart of Shenzhen, is one of China's largest and most famous electronics markets. Once known as "China's No.1 Electronics Street" for assembly, trading, and imitation, the district has now evolved into a global AI hardware hub, defining innovation, creating new product categories, and shaping consumer demand.

Top eight AI products reflect market trends

On February 13, Huaqiangbei released its "Top Eight AI Products" sales list, featuring drones, robots, AI smart glasses, AI toys, AI watches, AI translators, AI learning devices, and AI speakers. Unlike expert rankings or panel opinions, this list is based entirely on real consumer purchase data, reflecting genuine demand and delivering authentic market signals.

Sales growth has been remarkable. Over the past two months, overall tech sales increased by more than 30%, with AI smart glasses surging by 70–80% and drones and robots growing by 30–50%. More than 7,000 international buyers from 183 countries and regions visited during the Chinese New Year holiday, and daily foot traffic reached around 750,000.

Shenzhen's OPC ecosystem fuels rapid innovation

Analysts credit the district's growth to the One-Person Company (OPC) ecosystem, which allows entrepreneurs to rapidly turn concepts into mass-produced products. The ecosystem operates through three interconnected layers:

·Industrial Proximity: Suppliers for nearly every component of every electronic product are within walking distance, enabling fast hardware development.

·Integrated Services: Design, testing, certification, and engineering support are closely connected, solving implementation challenges.

·Ultra-fast Manufacturing: Products can move from design to prototype to mass production in under a week, with overseas shipment following shortly after.

This structure creates a real-time innovation feedback loop: consumer purchases generate demand signals, manufacturers receive sales data instantly, designs are adjusted rapidly, and updated products return to market at high speed.

Policy and capital support accelerate growth

The boom is further reinforced by strong government policies and funding. A 100-billion-yuan AI fund backs early-stage startups, while the "AI+ Plan" aims to build over 10 innovation communities, incubate 1,000+ startups, provide tens of millions in computing vouchers for AI model training, and offer API vouchers worth millions. Innovation is supported across the ecosystem, creating a hotspot where market demand, entrepreneurship, and policy converge.

Consequently, the top eight list is more than a sales ranking; it is a microcosm of China's emerging AI wave, a glimpse into a new industrial model, and evidence of a rapidly accelerating innovation cycle. Huaqiangbei's transformation reflects a shift from "Made in China" to "Defined by China", as the country moves from producing products designed elsewhere to shaping global hardware standards. The AI-driven industrial revolution is underway — and the world is watching.
