The 2026 Southern China Book Fair kicked off in Guangzhou on August 27. This year, the APEC Cultural Pavilion was held for the first time, showcasing diverse cultures from APEC economies.
Cindy Wee, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Guangzhou, thought highly of the pavilion because it well illustrates the cultural diversity of APEC economies.
Wee indicated that, "this is a very important year for China as the host of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November in Shenzhen." She believed that the reason why Shenzhen was chosen as the city to host the APEC meeting was exactly what China wanted to showcase to the world: its global connectivity, its innovation and openness.
