Zheng Yongnian: Economic integration in Asia will see faster development in next few years

Upon his 100th day since his second term as US president, Donald Trump has imposed various tariffs on other countries around the world. His moves have battered global trade and brought huge uncertainty worldwide.

In an exclusive interview with GDToday recently, Zheng Yongnian, Dean of the Institute for International Affairs, Qianhai at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), noted that Trump's tariffs, as an external force, would push the economic integration of Asian countries, making regional free trade more critical.

Additionally, Zheng projected that economic integration and development in Asia may move faster in the next few years.
