On the wetlands along the Xiaodong River in Maoming, a winter paradise for egrets has emerged.
Early in the morning, as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the river's surface, the egrets are already on the move. They gracefully skim across the water, catching small fish, and occasionally execute an elegant aerial twist to display their remarkable flying abilities.
In the afternoon, they rest in pairs under the shade of trees along the riverbank, preening their feathers and occasionally glancing up at the sky, seemingly enjoying the tranquility.
As evening descends, the golden hues of the setting sun illuminate the sky, and egrets take flight in groups. Their silhouettes interweave in the warm light, creating a captivating scene. These moments are not only visually pleasing but also serve as a vivid reflection of the improving ecological environment in Maoming.
