On November 20, Gongbei Port piloted the "Document-Free" Channels, being one of the first ports in China to do so. This represents another breakthrough in immigration clearance policies and will further enhance the convenience of travel exchanges among residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
At 0:00 on the same day, Mr. Li from Macao underwent a "face scan" before the gate and successfully entered Zhuhai in less than 10 seconds. "I do business in Macao and frequently travel between Zhuhai and Macao. Now it's much more convenient without having to present documents when crossing the border," said Mr. Li.
It is understood that the "Document-Free" Channels enabled at Gongbei Port include 20 each for entry and exit, mainly targeting "frequent travelers" between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Subsequently, other passages will be gradually opened to broaden the scope of use. Deputy Director Hu Hongyu of Gongbei Inspection Station said, "The enabling of the passages replaces 'document scanning' with 'face scanning,' effectively optimizing the passenger clearance inspection process and is also an important measure to actively respond to people's new expectations for convenient clearance."
As of 0:00 on November 27, nearly 370,000 people have passed through the "No Need to Present Documents" passages at Gongbei Port, averaging more than 50,000 people per day.
