Starting June 18, the hit film Dear You officially is released in overseas destinations such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.
The premiere of the movie in Malaysia was held on June 15, bringing together diplomats, community leaders, and the public.
At the event, Chiew Choon Man, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, said the film highlights the shared historical memories linking the Chaoshan region and overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia,
It also highlights the cultural ties between the peoples of Malaysia and China, passed down through generations across mountains and seas.
The film centres on Qiaopi, a distinctive cultural heritage comprising letters and remittances that once connected overseas Chinese with their families back home.
