On March 26, German chemical giant BASF officially commissioned its new, world-scale integrated (Verbund) production site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Representing a total investment of 8.7 billion euros (about 10 billion U.S. dollars), it is the largest single wholly foreign-owned project by a German company in China.
Covering an area of approximately four square kilometers, the site is designed to operate entirely on renewable electricity. This landmark investment underscores BASF's strategic commitment to and confidence in the Chinese market.
