24 hours of Yingge Dance: when Brazilian students meet Chinese heroes

Yingge Dance, literally called "the dance of heroes," is one of Guangdong's most iconic folk traditions. Originating in Chaoshan, it combines martial arts, dance, and drama to honor legendary heroes and embody strength and bravery.

Agnes and Daniel, two Brazilian students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, spent a day in Puning, Jieyang City, to immerse themselves in this living heritage as they painted warrior faces, dressed in traditional costumes, learned the bold steps, and watched local performances.

What happens when two young people brought up with the rhythms of samba meet the heroic spirit of Yingge? Watch the video to find out!
