During China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games held in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao from Dec. 8-15, a futuristic companion deployed in the Guangdong competition zone is stealing the spotlight: the smart guide dog for persons with visual impairment.
The robot leverages advanced algorithms for optimal route planning and real-time obstacle avoidance. It provides active navigation, allowing the user to simply follow along without constantly receiving auditory commands like with other assistive devices. For users, this translates to immense security and reliability, free from distractions.
Its standout ability to recognize traffic lights, easy set-up process within days, and affordable price also make it a more practical choice for persons with visual impairment who face challenges with animal guides.
Already deployed in major airports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, its rollout is set to expand to metro stations, hospitals, and residential communities in China to empower more visually impaired individuals to navigate the world confidently and independently.
