Boao Forum for Asia: Why trust and confidence matter now?

The Asian economy is projected to expand by 4.5% in 2025, continuing to serve as one of the world's primary engines of growth, with China leading the way at a forecasted 5% growth rate. These projections were highlighted in the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 report, released on March 25.

This year's conference is themed "Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future." However, as the global landscape evolves, Asia faces significant challenges, including trade disputes, geopolitical risks, and a slowdown in global economic growth. Therefore, rebuilding trust among nations and restoring confidence in the economy are more crucial than ever.

The report also revealed that Asia's share of the global economy is expected to rise to 36.4% at market exchange rates in 2025, up from 36.1% in 2024.

In 2024, China achieved a 5% growth rate, contributing approximately 30% to global economic growth, which means that China provides strong certainty in uncertain times.

BFA Secretary General Zhang Jun emphasized the region's bright future, stating "The world has every reason to be hopeful about Asia's future, and Asia also has every reason to be confident about the future of the world."
