A smart exoskeleton robot from Guangdong debuted at the Open House Day of the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea (PNG) on July 30.
The device was brought by the Guangdong cultural delegation, which is now visiting PNG. Made by Plankexa, a company based in Guangzhou, Guangdong's provincial capital, it drew crowds at the event in Port Moresby, the PNG capital.
The exoskeleton uses AI to assist the wearer's legs, cutting the physical effort of movement by half, according to the company. Whether climbing stairs, trekking outdoors, recovering from an injury, fighting fires or patrolling forests, wearers can move more freely and with less effort.
Beyond the exoskeleton, the Guangdong delegation also showcased a diverse array of cutting-edge products representing the province, including AI-powered smart translation glasses, stringless guitars and compact pocket cameras.
The products form part of the "Guangdong Goods, Global Reach" exhibition, one strand of the "2026 Charming China (Guangdong): Lingnan Culture Travels to the South Pacific" series of exchange events.
Running in PNG through August 2, the program is one of Guangdong's major international communication activities in 2026. Blending cultural showcases, Guangdong product displays, live stage performances and hands-on intangible cultural heritage workshops, it aims to bolster grassroots exchanges between Guangdong and South Pacific countries.
