China's Dai culture kept alive on pattra leaves

In the Xishuangbanna Dai Garden, Yunnan Province in Southwest China, visitors can try the pattra‑leaf manuscript, a thousand-year-old heritage of the Dai ethnic people in China. For centuries, the Dai ethnic group has inscribed their folklore, history, medical science, education and literature on these sturdy leaves, which they affectionately refer to as "civilization on pattra leaves."
