A robot dog wins over overseas media in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Starting September 2, journalists from APEC economies are attending the Asia-Pacific Media Forum and touring the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Their itinerary includes visits to the cities of Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai and Zhongshan.
At the 220 kV Qinyun Substation of China Southern Power Grid (CSG), an intelligent robot dog works alongside drones, sensors and other smart equipment to inspect the power grid. Powered by AI, the system can carry out autonomous inspections, detect problems in real time and help predict potential faults.
The substation is also connected to Macao's power grid through three 220 kV circuits, playing an important role in ensuring a stable cross-border power supply.
For overseas media visiting Hengqin, the robot dog offered a glimpse of how AI and smart grid technologies are making power infrastructure safer, smarter and more efficient.
Guangdong is accelerating its transition towards clean energy through smart inspections and a greener power system. New technologies are improving the grid's intelligence, efficiency and resilience.
