International vloggers enjoy Sanhua Plum feast in Xinyi, Maoming

"This is my 11th plum today—I just can't stop!" exclaimed Irene from Armenia, holding up a glossy, deep-red Sanhua Plum with excitement on May 20 in Qianpai Town, Xinyi, Maoming City, Guangdong. That day, a group of international content creators visited Qianpai Town, known as "China's Plums Town."

Olena Vorontsova, a fashion vlogger and model from Ukraine, poses for photos in Lihua Valley.

As they entered Lihua Valley, the stunning glass-walled hotel lobby spanning a crystal-clear stream left the group in awe. The real surprise came from the "flavor adventure" of Sanhua Plums. At first, the vloggers winced at the tartness of the fruit skin, but their expressions quickly turned to delight upon tasting the sweet, juicy flesh.

Irene, an Armenian vlogger, is a big fan of Sanhua Plums.

Irene couldn't resist eating 11 plums in a row, while Canadian food influencer Alexandra Louise Ogden (Alian) was amazed by a local specialty: cracking the plums open with wooden clamps and dipping them in spicy salt. "The mix of sweet, sour, and spicy is absolutely magical!" she raved.

Sanhua Plums are not just a delicious fruit—they're also a "golden ticket" for rural revitalization. As China's largest production region, Xinyi boasts 328,000 acres of plum orchards, with the entire industry chain generating over five billion yuan in 2024. In Qianpai Town, the heart of plum cultivation, many villagers have built new homes and bought cars thanks to plum farming.

"Before, people had to leave home to find work—now they can thrive right where they live," explained a local guide. Indian content creator Priyasha Sharma marveled, "A small fruit building a big industry—this is the real story of China's rural transformation!"
