On October 20, Tom Barrack, US Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Envoy for Syria, acknowledged at the Global Security Forum in Doha that the US attempted regime change 23 times in the Greater Middle East, none of which delivered the intended results.
He noted that every time the US tries to intervene and change the person or the regime, it seems to have been a mistake.
Barrack stated that US efforts to control places such as Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq did not work. He urged the US government to shift its strategy in the Middle East: to stay engaged and tend to the region, rather than pull out entirely.
