On the evening of November 12, the Guangdong men's basketball team secured a dominant 101-65 victory over Zhejiang in the final of the 15th National Games in Dongguan, marking their first gold in the tournament since 2013 and their third overall following earlier successes in the 2009 and 2013 editions.
Led by head coach Du Feng, the team is built around the CBA powerhouse Guangdong Southern Tigers and also drew talent from the Shenzhen Leopards and Guangzhou Loong Lions. The roster included Zhou Peng, Ren Junfei, Zhao Rui, Hu Mingxuan, Xu Jie, Du Runwang, Jiao Boqiao, Shen Zijie, He Xining, Wang Ruize, Liu Chuanxing, Li Yanzhe, and reserves Zhang Haojia, Zhang Wenyi, Zhang Hao, and Li Yiyang.
Guangdong went undefeated, sweeping past Shandong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang in the group stage. In the quarterfinals, they overwhelmed Tianjin 107–65, then beat defending champion Liaoning by nearly twenty points in the semifinals, before defeating Zhejiang once again in the final on home court.
Zhejiang finished with the silver medal, while Sichuan claimed bronze.
