International Olympic Committee Honorary President for Life Thomas Bach visited Foshan in Guangdong on November 11 as part of his trip to China for the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games.
During his visit, Mr. Bach stopped by Zhangcha Central Primary School, where young students showcased martial arts and lion dance performances. Impressed by their skills, he praised the athleticism and spirit demonstrated by the children.
"This is a great athletic performance," Bach said, noting that he has always appreciated outstanding displays of physical ability.
Bach then toured several of Foshan's cultural landmarks, including the Ancestral Temple, Lingnan Tiandi, and the historic Nanfeng Ancient Kiln. He described Foshan as a place where tradition, culture, history, and innovation blend seamlessly.
"It's extremely charming and relaxing here," he added, "you can be very happy to live here in Foshan."
