The First APEC Senior Officials' Meeting and related meetings (SOM1), the first event of APEC China 2026, are being held in Guangzhou from February 1 to February 10.
The meetings focus on "Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together," the theme of APEC 2026, along with its three priorities: openness, innovation, and cooperation.
During the sessions, Liu Wei, Director of the Institute of International Studies at the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, also highlighted Guangdong goods, noting that Guangzhou's human-centered approach to economic development is reflected in product design, encouraging continuous innovation and improvement. He pointed out that Guangdong's products are both practical and visually appealing, and emphasized that building strong Guangdong goods brands will help local products reach global markets and play an increasingly important role in the future Asia-Pacific economy.
