The fifth session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress kicked off in Guangzhou on January 26, 2026, revealing Guangdong's economic aggregate ranking first in China for 37 consecutive years.
When it comes to Guangdong's economic development, Yaacov Lopez, Israeli Consul General in Guangzhou, said, "Guangdong's development is very exciting. It has been leading in China and has now a growing influence in the world, as cities like Guangzhou and Shenzhen with their technologies lead the world." He noted that Guangdong's GDP is growing beyond expectations and that the province will continue to lead in technological and other areas, benefiting not only people in Guangdong, China, but also the world at large.
