China's Global Civilization Initiative is a 21st-century practice of Confucian values: Alfred Hornung, Member of Academia Europaea

The 2025 International Forum on Mutual Learning among Civilizations opened in Macao on December 16. In a keynote speech, Alfred Hornung, a Member of Academia Europaea, pointed out that the announcement of the Global Civilization Initiative by Chinese leadership comes at a time when the current U.S. administration has abandoned traditional foreign relations and the ideals of its founders. He emphasized that this initiative can be seen as a contemporary practice of Confucius' value system, which promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and a collaborative work community in a safe environment.

The forum gathered representatives from governments, international organizations, and scholars from around the world to explore issues of civilizational inclusiveness, cultural innovation, and cooperation.
