What if I told you that one out of every three smart toilets in China is made in one city? These smart toilets have also made their way into homes all over the world.
In southern China's Guangdong Province, Chaozhou City is undergoing a smart transformation in its traditional ceramics industry. Data show that four out of every ten pieces of sanitary ceramics in China are produced here. The city's annual output of smart toilet products has reached 5.6 million sets, accounting for more than 30 percent of the national total.
Chaozhou is home to over 800 sanitary ceramic enterprises, including 162 large-scale manufacturers. From January to November 2025, the sector's total output value reached approximately 8.141 billion yuan, marking steady year-on-year growth.
At Guangdong BIKI Intelligent Sanitary Ware, Polish vloggers toured the production lines, observing modular smart seat systems, automated assembly and multi-stage quality testing. They expressed surprise at the variety of designs and colors, as well as the high level of automation and factory management. "It's super useful. If you want the new toilets, just come to Chaozhou."
Company representatives say exports account for around 60 percent of total sales, with North America among its most mature markets. Products are sold on major e-commerce platforms and in supermarkets overseas.
From design and testing to global distribution, Chaozhou's smart toilet industry illustrates how a traditional ceramics base is expanding its footprint in the international market.
