The APEC First Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings (SOM1), the first event of APEC China 2026, are being held in Guangzhou from February 1 to February 10.
Delegates from 21 member economies visited Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, during the meeting.
Visiting Haixinsha Technology Island for the first time, Krisia Misa, Senior Health Program Officer of the Philippine Department of Health, was blown away by Guangdong's cutting-edge technology. Some of the products she had only ever seen in movies or other events, and now she could experience them in real life. She noted that this is exactly the kind of innovation China can showcase to the world, beyond just APEC members.
