Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's provocative remarks during her Diet questioning on Nov. 7, in which she irresponsibly claimed that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan, imply that Japan would militarily intervene in the Taiwan question.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China condemned the erroneous remarks in the past few days, stating that China firmly opposes the Japanese PM's continuous undermining of the political foundation of China-Japan relations, which is based on the spirit of the four political documents between the two countries.
In a recent interview with South, Rosen Plevneliev, the former President of Bulgaria, issued a stark warning about the rise of nationalism and populist rhetoric worldwide, saying, "nationalism is gaining momentum, especially from the United States and beyond to Japan and some other countries."
"This nationalism," Plevneliev said, "has never, in the long term, produced good results." He argued that when countries isolate themselves by focusing solely on national interests, economies, and problems, it lays the groundwork for potential conflicts.
