Greek classics meet Chinese readers at the 2026 Southern China Book Fair in Guangzhou.
On August 29, the Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou led readers through The Odyssey, one of the best-known works of ancient Greek literature, using storytelling, performance and other creative forms.
Through Odysseus' journey home and its timeless themes of family, wisdom and perseverance, the ancient epic still resonates with audiences today. The Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou also shared her views on how literature can build bridges between cultures. As Greek and Chinese books are translated and shared, they open new windows for people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding.
