At the Asia-Pacific Media Forum in Shenzhen on September 5, Frank Senge Kolma, editorial director of The National Newspaper of Papua New Guinea, looked back on the country's journey to hosting APEC 2018.
"When nobody thought Papua New Guinea could deliver, President Xi Jinping said, 'If nobody comes, I will come.'"
Kolma said China's support gave Papua New Guinea the faith, confidence and trust to host APEC—and inspired Papua New Guinea to take on more international conferences with confidence.
