Professor Xie Youshun of Sun Yat-sen University unveiled a groundbreaking urban vision of merging digital consciousness with physical urban spaces at the Forum on Building up China's Cultural Strength 2025 held on Monday (May 26).
Xie, also chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Writers Association, emphasized that digital architecture now creates experiential ecosystems that go beyond mere tool functionality, where AI-generated realities and spiritual landscapes interact symbiotically with tangible urban frameworks.
Xie noted that physical urban spaces and the spiritual world should nurture and reinforce each other, forming a core approach to building a modern humanistic metropolis. In this process, China aims to contribute a new urban paradigm that embraces civilizational coherence, spiritual abundance, and symbiotic coexistence.
